We went a couple weekends ago while we were in town. They have sooooooooo many pie options. I got the Chocolate toffee and it was amazing, best pie I've ever had! Lunch service was great - I got a sandwich and it was very good, I tried fried green tomatoes for the first time and they were amazing. To me they tasted like a cross between fried pickles and fried zucchini

We needed good places to eat and the Texan Cafe is a great fit. We have eaten there a few times, mostly successful. A couple things to know, first, they do not have the exact same food as their Hutto location and their specials that show up on their website as available in Taylor location are not necessarily accurate, call if you are going for something specific you’re craving. Their chicken and dumplings, catfish, shrimp, sides, Texas toast and onion rings were all fantastic and portions are to make sure you don’t leave hungry. If you’re craving liver and onions, think twice unless you prefer them well done and a bit on the tough side.

I got the chicken fried rib eye steak today and it was DELICIOUS! The sides were also! I didn’t get pie today because they didn’t have the sugar free one that I saw on menu online; i am diabetic. I hope they have it next time! My favorite pie is the Guy Pie, but they haven’t had it when I was there.

5 ⭐ PIES! We came to visit Taylor Tx and I highly recommend getting some pies to go! We ate our pies at the beer garden at Old Taylor High. We each ordered 2 different kinds of pie and all were AMAZING! Out of 6 different pies we tried, every one was 5 star perfect! We will be back for pie to go! I do want to mention: The building smells and I would never be able to eat inside, it’s an old mildew type smell. The bathroom needs attention. I judge a place by their bathroom. Not only do walls and floor need cleaned but the toilet seat is broken (you have been warned you may fall into the toilet) and there’s no toilet paper in the dispenser (reach around behind you to grab unsanitary used rolls).

Outstanding addition to the City. Good value, good food. The BLT and fries is likely the best value in town for a meal even compared to a burger fries from a fast food spot. Queso appetizer was awesome and for a non-steakhouse, the sirloin was fantastic.
